{"id":9367,"date":"2024-01-27T02:50:24","date_gmt":"2024-01-27T02:50:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/olpcc.edu.ph\/main\/?p=9367"},"modified":"2024-01-27T02:50:27","modified_gmt":"2024-01-27T02:50:27","slug":"remembering-saint-thomas-aquinas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olpcc.edu.ph\/main\/2024\/01\/27\/remembering-saint-thomas-aquinas\/","title":{"rendered":"REMEMBERING SAINT THOMAS AQUINAS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>JANUARY 19 | Class of Grade 10 Saint Thomas Aquinas commemorated their feast day through a short introduction of their class Patron Saint and a hearty lunch followed by an exciting afternoon filled with excitement as they participated in various games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Known primarily as a brilliant theologian and philosopher and is the patron saint of&nbsp;universities and scholars, Saint Thomas Aquinas (born 1224\/25, Roccasecca, near Aquino, Terra di Lavoro, Kingdom of Sicily [Italy]\u2014died March 7, 1274, Fossanova, near Terracina, Latium, Papal States; canonized July 18, 1323; feast day January 28, formerly March 7) was an Italian Dominican theologian, the foremost&nbsp;medieval&nbsp;Scholastic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He developed his own conclusions from\u00a0Aristotelian\u00a0premises, notably in the\u00a0metaphysics\u00a0of personality, creation, and\u00a0Providence. As a\u00a0theologian, he was responsible in his two masterpieces, the\u00a0Summa theologiae\u00a0and the\u00a0Summa contra gentiles, for the classical systematization of Latin\u00a0theology, and, as a poet, he wrote some of the most gravely beautiful Eucharistic\u00a0hymns\u00a0in the\u00a0church\u2019s liturgy. His doctrinal system and the explanations and developments made by his followers are known as\u00a0Thomism.
