Hospitality Management (BSHM) students celebrated their HM day by organizing a Livelihood Program for the Sitio Casalatan cooperative members, held at the OLPC-C Gym, March 08.

The program coordinator, Marlon M. Martinez, MSHRM, demonstrated the “how-to” of making a Suman Cassava Muryekos, assisted by the students.  The participants followed him and HM studs assisted those who need help. Food tasting came afterwards, when the final product has already been cooked. The participants also received certificates of participation at the end of the program.

The program aimed to attain financial independence through self-independence and to make their existing livelihood means grow into viable and sustainable business.

“Since cassava is their main crop, we decided to teach them on how to make cassava muryekos to have some twist. It feels great to help the members of Casalatan because they can use it in small business for their daily lives,”, Man Yee Chan, BSHM-1 shared.
