The STEM department yielded the limelight as they claimed the coveted champion title in the Cheerdance competition during the third day celebration of Sportsfest of OLPCC’s grandstand on August 17.
The teams of CABA, AGHT and STEM battled and wowed the audience with their performances. Team NADA on the other hand has no official entry for this year’s competition. The cheerdance team of CABA department were able to take the first runner-up spot while team AGHT took home the second runner-up place.
The judges who critiqued the participating teams’ performances were Dance Sport choreographer Rhoda Mae Monte, Socio-cultural Dance Coordinator Harold Agustin, and Michael Cabaccan, an entrepreneurship graduate.
Meanwhile, dancing duo Febbie Domingo and Richmond Singson, representatives from TEAM AHGT, claimed four awards in the Latin category as they ranked first in Cha-cha, Rumba, Samba and Jive. Meanwhile, the pair of Vicie Baccay and Paul Jhon Macapia from TEAM CABA took home the first place in Waltz from Standard category. TEAM STEM’s representatives Jasmine Lintao and Denmark Ricardo won in the Tango category.
Themed with “Converging Youth Power in Building Christian Community through Sports” the participating teams showed their youth power through their choreography and team spirit.
