“A crime against the natural world is a crime against ourselves and a crime against God. The intersection of the divine and human can be found in even the last speck of dust on our planet as well as in every little aspect of God’s creation.” – Pope Francis; Laudato Si (2015)

Grade 10 students from St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Michael, the Archangel and St. Joseph, the Husband of Mary, conducted a tree-planting activity associated with obtaining their own fundamental principles regarding ecological awareness on September 12-14 in front of OLPC-C JHS Department.

Alongside Dr. Crisanto S. Magaoay, JHS Principal, together with the grade 10 advisers – Ms. Maria Kristina M. Otero, Ms. Wennie B. Aquino, and Mr. Gaylord I. Gammad, students engaged in this meaningful activity in coordination with the Pillarican Scientists Society under the advisorship of Mrs. Joanna Grace M. Roles in hopes that they too, can leave their legacy in the JHS Department.

This action puts a strong emphasis on the core value of teen Pillaricans as Responsible Filipino Citizens with social and environmental consciousness and this proves that Pillaricans are aware of environmental issues and they are eager to find solutions that go beyond technological advancements and a change in human nature.

By encouraging the substitution of consumption with sacrifice, greed with generosity, and wastefulness with sharing, it encourages humility and freedom from coercion, fear, and greed.
