In a heartwarming display of reflection and personal growth, Grade 7 students from St. Therese, St. Mary, St. Clare, and St. Anne of Our Lady of the Pillar College-Cauayan, Inc. Junior High School department participated in their first-ever recollection—an event designed to foster self-awareness, spiritual reflection, and a deeper sense of community held at Our Lady of the Visitation Seminary on January 11.

The recollection provided students with a unique opportunity to step away from their usual classroom activities and engage in a day of introspection. The event featured a series of talks, group discussions, and mindfulness exercises aimed at helping students reflect on their values, goals, and personal experiences.

It began with a reflective talk by Rev. Fr. Joseph Jinnoh C. Rosales who emphasized the importance of faith, hope, and love. “It is essential to understand these virtues. Together, they create a foundation for personal growth, a fulfilling life, and a compassionate society,” Father Jinnoh shared.

For many students, this was their first exposure to such an event. “I feel like I understand my friends better now, and I’m more confident in who I am. It’s also as if all my problems were taken away,” said Frezia Coleen Lanuza from St. Clare.

“I was very happy all day. I met new friends from other sections,” said Hannane Mawla, a student from St. Mary Magdalene.

After the initial talk, the students participated in group activities that helped them connect with one another and reflect on their own lives. One of the highlights was the “Conversation in the Spirit,” where students were divided into groups of ten to share their understanding of how to improve their faith, hope, and love.

The recollection marked a meaningful start to self-discovery, fostering growth and reflection. The day ended with a Mass led by Father Sherwin Sarmiento, inspiring hope, love, and faith in the hearts of the Grade 7 students.
