Cauayan City Local Government Unit representatives conducted a Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) seminar with the theme: “Empowering students: Building resilience through preparedness and risk reduction” at Our Lady of the Pillar College – Cauayan (OLPC-C), Inc., Junior High School gymnasium, March 7.

Before the seminar, the emcees of the event, Joshua R. Pagulayan and Maricris I. Causo, went around the JHS gymnasium and asked the students about their prior knowledge regarding the natural and man-made disasters as well as different types of pollution present in our environment nowadays.

In the program proper, Dr. Crisanto S. Magaoay, JHS principal, delivered his welcoming remarks, then the speakers discussed about the different disasters and ways to prevent them which included basic first aid and bandaging as well as using a fire extinguisher in case a fire breaks out.

During the break, Maria Luiza M. Mallillin, Jamaica Fe S. Descalzo, and Franzesca Chloe A. Balingao, showcased their talent in singing to entertain the students. After the seminar, certificate of recognition and tokens were given to the speakers and students who participated in the bench painting competition for grades 9 and 10 were also recognized before Janessa Lujille L. Guerrero, Supreme Student Government (SSG) President, delivered her closing remarks.
